  • How long is the program?
The candidacy program runs from January until the Pageant is held annually in July. At the Pageant, Miss Kelowna, Kelowna's Princess, and Lady in Waiting are crowned and they continue as ambassadors from that time until the next pageant the following year.
  • How much does the program cost?
Each candidate is given a sponsor who covers the cost of the program for them, which makes this a program affordable for everyone! The pageant held in July has a ballgown portion, and while some girls supply their own, the Lady of the Lake Society has many partners who can also lend the candidate a dress if she is unable to. Basically, ponytails and pantyhose are the only things the candidate needs to worry about.
  • Are there bursaries available?
Yes! We have a variety of bursaries available which are awarded at Pageant. There are different categories including but not limited to personal development, public speaking, and area knowledge. These are meant to reward the candidates for their hard work and provide support for furthering their development and education.
  • What is the commitment like?
Candidates meet once a week for two hours. As the program goes on more time commitments are expected as volunteering opportunities arise, different events occur, and preparation is needed. A full schedule is given at contract signing or you can email us for more detail.
  • How involved should parents be?
The biggest thing parents need to contribute is support! We recommend parents to attend events and listening to their daughters practice their speeches. Parents should also give them the opportunity to learn independence and time management.
  • What do the candidates learn during training?
Topics include public speaking, car maintenance, networking and interview skills, personal finance, etiquette, dance, area knowledge, modeling, and makeup skills. These are just a few examples of the training candidates go through.
  • Who is eligible to participate?
Young women between the ages of 15-18 living in the City of Kelowna. For specific inquiries regarding eligibility please contact us via email.
  • What are the judged events?
The main judged events include Sponsor Night, Judges Interviews, Fashion Show, Spring Tea, Speech and Talent Night and Pageant.
  • How much do the events cost?
Typically, the ticket prices for these events range from $8 - $15 per person. We love when candidates bring their whole family for support, so don't be afraid to ask for extra tickets!
  • What happens if I quit halfway through the program?
We'd be sad to see you go, but if you must drop out halfway through the program due to commitment conflict or other reasons, you are required to pay back the fee your sponsor paid for you to participate in the program.
